DAY 1: THE VALLEY OF FIRE

After a quick 20 mile blast up I-15 as we watch Las Vegas shrink into desert floor through our side mirrors and enter what feels like another planet as we see the amazing vibrant red rock formations of Valley of Fire rising from the endless sea of brown desert that stretches for miles around it.

Long considered by the Indians as a sacred place, the 36,000-acre Valley of Fire State Park gets its name from the intense sandstone formations that were created 150 million years ago. And it's these unique rock formations that give it the unearthly look where we'll see nothing green, just blazing red rocks that have served as an alien planet in scores of sci-fi movies.

After riding the beautiful and narrow roads that dissect this sea of red earth we roll through Lake Mead National Recreation Area and along the shores of Lake Las Vegas before seeing the Las Vegas skyline stand out against the first hint of dusk.

DAY 2: RED ROCK CANYON

Just minutes outside of Las Vegas, we'll ride the open roads of Red Rock Canyon. Often referred to as the hidden jewel of the Mojave Desert, its beauty and quiet isolation make it the opposite of the casino glitz and action along the Strip.

A world-class rock-climbing destination, Red Rock's cliffs can reach as high as 3,000 feet. In particular, Keystone Thrust Fault extends 13 miles along the crest of the Red Rock escarpment and creates one of the more picturesque views. Its brilliant contrast of gray limestone and red sandstone was produced when two of the earth's plates collided millions of years ago with such force that the older layers of rock pushed horizontally over the younger layers.

While the views are majestic, when riding through towering, picture-perfect formations of red rocks we'll also keep a lookout for a plethora of desert wildlife, including wild mustang horses, the desert kit fox and big horn sheep.

DAY 3: MT. CHARLESTON

Part of the Spring Mountain Range and Toiyabe National Forest, Mount Charleston stands at 11,918 feet ,making it Nevada's eighth-highest mountain and one of the Top 10 most topographically-prominent peaks in the United States.

With 18,000 acres of bristlecone pine and the most extensive stand of these ancient trees in the Intermountain Region its high, cool forested mountain landscape is in sharp contrast to the surrounding desert landscape.

Snowcapped for more than half the year, the mountain is an oasis of cool breezes and scenic beauty, with juniper, mountain mahogany, Aspen and Ponderosa pine trees, and wild burros, songbirds, deer and desert tortoises.

Mount Charleston will be a tranquil contrast to the excitement and high energy of Las Vegas and serves as a perfect backdrop to our Day 3 ride.

Speakers
  arkadi kuhlmann
Founder and CEO, ZenBanx, Inc.
Founder, ING DIRECT Canada and USA

Arkadi Kuhlmann's vocation and avocation have been to reinvent and revitalize consumers' relationship with their money.

He has spent his career building and leading financial services enterprises, but behind this three-piece suit beats the heart of a troublemaker. Arkadi is an entrepreneur, not a bureaucrat. He is a marketer, not a bean counter. He believes that power belongs on Main Street, not on Wall Street. And he believes that money should work for people, not the other way around. As the poet wrote, following the road less traveled has "made all the difference." Thus far, there is no doubt, and he has confidence the best is yet to come.

His ride: Harley Davidson V-Rod Screaming Eagle 2006

  John Paul DeJoria
co-founder of Paul Mitchell Systems

John Paul DeJoria's inspirational rags-to-riches success story exemplifies the American Dream. He has struggled against the odds not only to achieve success, but to share his success with others. After high school and service with honors in the U.S. Navy, John Paul did whatever it took to make ends meet—from selling encyclopedias and working as a janitor to pumping gasoline. Eventually, John Paul took his talents to several hair care and cosmetic companies before becoming an independent consultant. That's when he teamed up with his friend Paul Mitchell to launch John Paul Mitchell Systems. As a businessman, environmentalist and philanthropist, John Paul has donated his time, money and expertise to helping others. He is a patron of Mineseeker, a non-profit organization dedicated to seeking solutions to the worldwide problem of landmines. In 2006, he was appointed Admiral by the Governor of Texas, and he received the Citizen of the Year Dolphin Award from The Malibu Times.

Adventures of a Serial Entrepreneur and Self-Made Billionaire
"Pay attention to the vital few and ignore the trivial many,"" asserts über-entrepreneur John Paul DeJoria. While difficult for most of us to master, this management philosophy has taken the co-founder and CEO of Paul Mitchell Systems from door to door sales of shampoos and conditioners in 1980 to now a business empire selling more than 100 products in salons in 87 countries. And these days, 69 years young DeJoria does way more than hair care. He co-founded Patrón Spirits, which sells more than two million cases of tequila a year; and owns many other companies, including pet care line John Paul Pet and jeweler DeJoria Diamonds. In this exclusive conversation with Inc., the serial entrepreneur and self-made billionaire opens up about his impressive entrepreneurial journey; reveals how he manages multiple companies (all without using email); and shares why he believes success unshared is failure. Learn from this master teacher how to leverage your business pursuits.
